Join Riccardo Schirru, an Italian-Australian journalist with a deep passion for Italy, and Aussie2Italia for an extraordinary 14-day journey that will take you from the ancient landmarks of Rome to the charming canals of Venice, with an immersive cultural and culinary experience in Bologna.


This tour is for people who want to understand the way in which Italians love their food and wine. It is a small tour of no more than 25 passengers and we will visit special places off the well worn tourist track.


Stay in centrally located accommodation as you explore the historic wonders of Rome, marvel at the art treasures of Florence, and soak in the local flavors of Bologna through local produce visits, a cooking class, and rustic adventures. You will also visit Venice, where you’ll discover the grandeur of Doge’s Palace and enjoy the magical atmosphere of this iconic city.

  • Venice - Sunday, 5 October 2025 (D)

    Welcome to Venice ! On arrival into Venice airport roll your luggage down the boardwalk to the dock where you will find your private water taxi waiting for you to take you into Venice And what a way to arrive in Venice Italy by sea ….the Water taxi is absolutely the best way to enter Venice. Speeding across the lagoon the city is just a smudge on the horizon at first. As Venice becomes larger and larger you can begin to distinguish buildings.


    Before you know it, you're gliding into a canal-the buildings along the canal will have colorful flower boxes and laundry on lines between buildings flapping in the wind.


    What do our clients say about arrival by water taxi? “It was a great introduction to the city and an amazing way to arrive into Venice.   • Venice – Monday, 6 October 2025 (B)

    After your Italian style breakfast, we start the day with a guided half-day tour (2.5 hours) that includes entry to the magnificent Doge’s Palace. This Gothic masterpiece features opulent rooms, intricate artwork, and the iconic Bridge of Sighs. 


    After the tour, you’ll have the afternoon free to explore Venice on your own. You might visit St. Mark’s Basilica, admire the Rialto Bridge, or take a memorable gondola ride through the city’s enchanting canals. 


    In the evening, you can choose from a variety of local eateries or simply enjoy a peaceful evening by the canals. Dinner at own expense.

  • Venice to Bologna– Tuesday, 7 October 2025 (B)

    Today after our Italian Style breakfast we have time for some early morning exploring or last minute shopping in Venice before we checkout of our hotel and walk to the train station. 


    Note that we have arranged a luggage delivery for your bags so we will collect them at the train station on our arrival. As we say goodbye to Venice we board our fast train to Bologna around lunch time .


    Our fast train to Bologna takes us around 90 minutes so sit back and enjoy watching the wonderful Italian country side. 


    This afternoon on arrival at Bologna train station we will be transferred to our hotel for the next 3 nights.


    Tonight dinner is own arrangements (at own expense) but ask us for recommends as there are plenty just near our hotel.

  • Bologna – Wednesday, 8 October 2025 (B)

    This morning after our Italian style breakfast you have the day free to explore this wonderful city – Bologna has amazing covered walkways and The Portico of San Luca is the worlds longest covered

    archways consisting of 600 plus portico’s (arches) connecting the city centre and the Madonna di San Luca Sanctuary on top of the hill - almost 4 kms long. 


    Maybe walk to the hill or visit the towers there is much to do and see in this wonderful city.

  • Bologna Parma & Modena – Thursday, 9 October 2025 (B, L)

    After our Italian Style breakfast we will board our coach and travel to Modena & Parma. 


    The traditional homeland of Balsamic Vinegar Modena is an amazing town to visit – there are many things do and see in this vibrant town. Piazza Grande (Unesco World Heritage) with the Palazzo Comunale, the Duomo, and the Ghirlandina Tower, the Enzo Ferrari Museum. 


    We reboard the coach and head to Parma designated UNESCO’s city of gastronomy. Parma is a university city in Italy's Emilia-Romagna region, famed for Parmesan cheese and Parma ham. Picturesque university

    town with a lot to see: Cathedral and Baptistry of Parma, Romanesque style with frescoes by painter Correggio, the Neoclassical Theatre Regio, opened by famous Italian composer Vincenzo Bellini, in 1829.


    Lunch today will be included and we will be tasting the local produce.


    This afternoon there will be time to explore the town before we board our coach and head back to Bologna for our last night.

  • Bologna to Tuscany via Ravenna – Friday, 10 October 2025 (B,D)

    This morning after our Italian style breakfast we depart Bologna, via Ravenna and head to Tuscany’s rolling hills.


    Ravenna is a city in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It's known for the colourful mosaics adorning many of its central buildings, like the octagonal Basilica di San Vitale, the 6th-century Basilica di Sant'Apollinare Nuovo and the cross-shaped Mausoleo di Galla Placidia. North of the center, the Mausoleo di Teodorico built in the 6th century for King Theodoric the Great, is a Gothic, circular

    stone tomb with a monolithic dome. 


    We will have a half day tour with local guide (walking) and time for a stop for lunch before boarding the coach and heading to Tuscany.


    As we arrive into Tuscany you will see the many rolling hills and thin pine trees that the area is famous for. On arrival into our villa for the next 2 nights you will be assigned your rooms before heading down to dinner outside under the vines (weather permitting).


    Tonight’s dinner is included as is a class of wine to salute our arrival to Tuscany.

  • Tuscan Villa – Saturday, 11 October 2025 (B, L, D)

    This morning enjoy an Italian breakfast while taking in the scenery of the rolling hills of Tuscany.


    After breakfast you might like to relax by the pool, go for a swim or take a walk. Lunch today is included. 


    People often ask why is Tuscany so famous? It is in central Italy and is home to dramatic landscapes, and the historic cities of Florence and Siena. It's a place of art, of delicious local dishes, Chianti wines and hilltop towns that overlook breathtaking and verdant valleys. Today you will enjoy the Villa and the view


    People often under estimate the importance of food to the italian way of life - even if you’re not a budding chef learning the art of pasta making is fascinating - most Italians eat pasta everyday ! 


    After lunch we have a cooking class at the Villa and learn how to make pasta.


    Tonight’s dinner is included with a glass of wine.

  • Tuscan Villa to Florence - Sunday, 12 October 2025 (B)

    After our Italian style breakfast, over the rolling hills of Tuscany you will have time for an extra coffee, a swim or a walk before we checkout and board our coach to Florence. 


    Florence is an exciting place with lots to do and see but also a busy place. On arrival we check into our hotel for next 3 nights and you will have time to start your exploring. 


    Tonight for dinner, for those interested, we will meet in the lobby and walk to the wonderful Florence Mercato Centrale (own expense).

  • Florence – Monday, 13 October 2025 (B)

    After our Italian style breakfast, its time to explore Florence. Begin your day with a hop-on hop-off bus tour of Florence, which will take you to major highlights such as the Uffizi Gallery, renowned for its masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo, and the Ponte Vecchio, a medieval bridge lined with charming shops. 


    In the afternoon, you may choose to stop and visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s original David or relax in the Boboli Gardens. Remember your tickets are for the whole day so if you’re a bit tiered just do the full loop on the bus and see Florence with commentary and without walking. 


    Dinner is at your leisure (own expense), and you can indulge in Tuscan specialties like ribollita or Florentine steak. Ask us for a recommendation or stop at one of the many places to eat while still touring this amazing city.

  • Florence to Pisa – Tuesday, 14 October 2025 (B)

    After our Italian style breakfast we will walk to the train station for our day trip to Pisa. On arrival at Pisa we will walk (around 25-30 minutes) to visit the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa. 


    Along with the tower, you can visit the nearby Cathedral and Baptistery. You must get your photo here ! 


    There is time to explore and have lunch also. After exploring Pisa, we will return to the train station on foot (a 25-30 min walk) and return to Florence by train around mid -  late afternoon. 


    Tonight enjoy a relaxing evening and have dinner at your leisure (own expense). Ask us for a local restaurant recommendation.

  • Florence to Rome - Wednesday, 15 October 2025 (B)

    After your Italian style breakfast, you have time this morning for last minute shopping or sight seeing. We check out of our hotel and we walk to the train station for our fast late morning train to Rome. 


    At the train station there are plenty of food options which you can purchase and take on the train for your lunch. 


    On arrival into Rome, we check in to our hotel and you have the afternoon free to explore. You might visit the Colosseum, an ancient amphitheatre with a rich history, and the nearby Roman Forum, which was once the centre of ancient Roman public life. 


    Dinner tonight is at your own expense - ask us for a recommendation.

  • Rome – Thursday, 16 October 2025 (B)

    After enjoying your Italian style breakfast on the terrace, we will start our day with a hop-on hop-off bus tour of Rome, covering major attractions such as the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms, and St. Peter’s Basilica, where you can marvel at Michelangelo’s Pietà and the grand dome. 


    In the afternoon, continue your exploration with visits to the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. There is so much to see and your tickets are valid for the whole day so you can still see this amazing city and rest your feet. 


    This evening is free for you to enjoy dinner at your leisure and expense.

  • Rome – Friday, 17 October 2025 (B, D)

    After your Italian style breakfast it will be our final full day in Rome. Depending on booking allocation time this morning we will tour the Vatican Museum and Sistine chapel, which are an absolute must in Rome. 


    Later today take the opportunity to explore more of Rome or revisit some of the sites you didn’t get time to really explore. Visit the Spanish Steps, relax at the famous staircase, or enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Villa Borghese park, which features museums and gardens. 


    In the afternoon, you’ll have free time for shopping or last-minute sightseeing. 


    In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner at a local Roman restaurant, where you can savour traditional Roman dishes and toast to a memorable time in Rome.

  • Rome – Saturday, 18 October 2025 (B)

    After our Italian style breakfast, we check out of our hotel and head to the airport – depending on your flight times we will arrange a private airport transfer (additional cost).
